Galveston Island Weather
Galveston's climate is classified as humid subtropical. The summers are long and hot, and the summer season lasts four months, from June through September. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90 °F, and Gulf Breezes from the south and southeast bring moisture and humidity, which drives the heat index even higher, while nighttime lows average in the upper 70’s.
The winters are short, cool, and windy. The cool season lasts approximately three months, from December to March. Winters in the area are temperate with typical January highs above 60 °F and lows near 50 °F. Snowfall and freezing temperatures are rare on the island.
Annual rainfall averages are over 40 inches a year and most of the rainfall coincides with Galveston’s hurricane season, June through November.
